Your website is often the first point of contact between you and a potential customer so their first impression of your website matters! At mngr we design websites that are mobile-friendly to ensure that your website doesn’t turn away customers before they’ve even had a chance to look around at what you have to offer. How well your website runs on mobile devices really matters when you consider how many people use their mobile devices to search the web.

The growing popularity of mobile searches

A report by Hitwise states that mobile searches make up around 60% of all internet searches. That means that simply having a “functional” website; a page for people to see your NAP (name, address, phone number), and what services you offer isn’t enough to convert organic online searches into paying clients anymore.

What does mobile-friendly mean?

A common mistake that we see businesses make, especially businesses that have been around for a while, is forgetting to update their website as new technology comes out. Think of your website as a stereo. If you’ve had it since the early 2000s, it’s not going to be compatible with any of the technology that’s come out since: aux, bluetooth, you name it. The same thing goes for your website. If it was designed to run on a desktop running Windows 98, then it’ll look great on that, but it won’t really be practical for small touch-screens.

Mobile-friendly should meet the following criteria:

  • Does the page load quickly?
  • Does the content fit the page and is it easy to read?
  • Are the navigation buttons large and touch-friendly?

What does Google like?

You might be thinking, “why do I care what Google thinks?” Well, I can appreciate your free spirit but like we mention in a few other posts, Google owns a pretty sizable chunk of the search engine market. This means that they set the baseline for what content is rewarded with visibility and what content is punishable by relegation to the bottom of the search results.

That’s why we design our websites and all of the content on them with Search Engine Optimization in mind. It’s just one of the ways that we make sure that a company’s website sees more traffic so they they can convert them into paying clients.
